Refractometers

What is a Refractometer?

A refractometer is an instrument that measures a liquid's refractive index. It works on the critical angle principle, which the lens and prism project a shadow line onto a small glass window inside the instrument. This is viewed by the operator through a magnifying eyepiece. We stock a range of refractometers, which have various uses.

We use a refractometer to measure the brix level in slushies, this confirms that the mix is appropriate for the machine. By having the appropriate brix level, this will prevent harming the gearbox or ensuring the mix freezes appropriately. The 32% Refractometer measure the mixed up slushie mix most appropriately.
